Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) organized a round table to talk about the role of Municipal Community Safety Council (MCSC) in solving the security problems of minority communities in the municipality of Gracanica.
The meeting was organized in order to identify the ways of improving the safety of communities and their communication with the police. The round table brought together the representatives of the Municipality of Gracanica, MCSC members, representatives of minority communities and villages, organizations of civil society, representatives of the police and international organizations.
Possible threat, as it was estimated, at this point could cause only minor ethnically motivated incidents, and thus there should be taken all measures to prevent them.
According to the participants, unscrupulous participants in traffic represent a security threat, and installation of speed bumps and putting of additional signaling in settlements were requested from the municipal representatives.
The participants indicated the concerns about the high percentage of occupied property and requested additional efforts in solving of these problems.
A representative of Committee for Safety from Kisnica expressed concern over the poor condition of the local school building, which could threaten the teachers and students.
Deputy Mayor Nebojsa Milovanovic, who said that the local self-government is aware of the problems and will in the future do its best to solve them, was answering on mentioned problems and asked questions in front of the Municipality of Gracanica.
In the municipality of Gracanica there are no serious security threats, it was concluded at the round table organized by the OSCE on the role of municipal councils to community safety.
