On 29. 12. 2009. is held the first inaugural session of Municipal Assembly of Gracanica, which was elected in elections held on the 15th. November 2009. in organizing the Kosovo authorities. For mayor was elected by Bojan Stojanoviq Independent Liberal Party. President Bojan Stojanoviq and 15 gave sworn member of the inaugural session of the Municipal Assembly of Gracanica. Gracanica municipality was established under the Martti Ahtisaari plan, Kosovo Serbs will be able to manage the territory where they are in majority.
President Stojanoviq inaugural session said that the establishment of a municipal historic event because for the first time in its history, became Gracanica Municipality. Residents of the municipality of Gracanica, for the first time, have the opportunity to talk about their problems. "If the story starts, will remain a footprint that will be recorded in something that will be called a book. Establishment of the Municipality of Gracanica is a historic moment for Kosovo Serbs, because they will have a chance for a better life in Kosovo "- said President Stojanoviq.
For president of the Municipal Assembly, Members have chosen Goran Laziqin Independent Liberal Party. Otherwise, the municipal government has 12 deputies from the party SLS, Citizens Initiative Vidovdan, Demokrative League of Dardania, Serbia Demokrative KIM Party and the Party of Serbian Demokrative a member.
In the inaugural session of the Municipal Assembly was attended by ambassadors from Gracanica USA, Euleks, USAID and the Ministry of Returns and Communities Sasa Rasic. At the end of the session the President thanked the government of Kosovo and international institutions that gave support to the creation of the municipality of Gracanica
