Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović, and his associates, visited the beginning of works on paving five local streets in Novo Naselje, Skulanevo and Lepina today. In a long conversation with locals, it was agreed to reconstruct the sewage network in one part of Skulanevo.
Through a long-term project, the Municipality of Gračanica started asphalting five local streets today, which also marks the beginning of the construction season.
After visiting Novo Naselje, Skulanevo and Lepina, where the works started today, the Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović said that a continuing investment in all areas in the territory of Gračanica municipality continued with the goal of urbanization of all rural areas to a great extent.
“What I concluded from the conversations with the locals in these villages where the paving started is that they are very satisfied and that the new roads will mean a lot. Last year, we built more than 6 kilometers of roads in almost all places in the territory of the municipality, and this year we plan to build 8.5 km of roads. Constant communication with the locals means a lot to us, because we set priorities in agreement with them”, Popović said.
The locals are very satisfied. They say that such investment is necessary because this is one of the ways of creating better conditions for living and survival.
We found Ljubomir Mitrović from Lepina in a worker’s suit and a shovel in his hand as he tried to help workers who worked on paving and sub-basing of the streets.
“There was never any asphalt here. This is the first time. There were also mayors and administrators and many of them. I am very much thankful to this Mayor of the municipality, Popović, who came to visit us and who remembered to help us in getting asphalt road. We will not have any problems anymore, and I thank him once again”, Mitrović said.
Vladimir Nastić from Novo Naselje says that this is a place that has a large number of children, and that about two hundred of them living in this settlement, resist many temptations, but they are willing to survive. Therefore, the care of the Municipality of Gračanica, as he says, gives them “wind in the back” to stay there.
“This means a lot to us. One of the streets that will be asphalted in Novo Naselje is “Zvečanska” which leads to the elementary school, so it is unnecessary to say how much the new asphalt means to us where the movement of children is constant. We hope this is just the beginning of creating better conditions for living in our village and for all these people who are here”, Nastić said.
The residents of Skulanevo complained to the Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović, about the sewage problem in one of the streets where the works on paving started. In direct conversation with the directors of the relevant departments, it was immediately agreed to urgently arrange the sewerage network at a disputed location in Skulanevo.
Together with Popović, the works on the beginning of the road construction in these three villages were also visited by Director of Urbanism and Spatial Planning Department, Dejan Jovanović, as well as Director of Public Service Department, Vladica Trajković.
