Unemployment and the unresolved residential issue remain the biggest problems of citizens who come to the mayor of the municipality on Thursday, the day open for receiving citizens. Popović says these two problems are at the top of the priority activities of the municipality and that they are actively working on building housing units in order to reduce problems. He invites citizens to be patient and tolerant.
Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović, talked with the citizens today as well. He listened to all those who had previously scheduled a meeting in order to present their problems.
Ivana Sekulić is the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, but as she states, it is not important for her to work in her profession.
“I see the only hope in this municipality. I am a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, but it is completely irrelevant. It is important that there is job and to be here in as many number as possible”, Ivana said after the talks with the mayor.
Jovana Rašić from Lepina worked as a stand-in at a nursery school in Ugljare for five years, and now she is jobless.
“The mayor has listened to us and said that he would consider the possibility of helping me in the coming period “, said Jovana.
Employment is the biggest problem for Talić Nenad.
“I live with my parents, my wife and two children. I’ve been waiting for a job for 20 years. I believe that after listening to me, the mayor will consider my problem”, says Nenad.
The Mayor of Gračanica municipality said that the continuity of the talks with the citizens would continue in the future.
“For more than a year now, this continuity goes on. We, as the leadership of the municipality, find the contact with the citizens very important, because in that way, we can directly hear what the problems of the citizens are. The biggest problems are still employment, unresolved residential issue, and there are many social cases, but also many who seek advices. We heard out about 1,300 citizens and solved about 450 problems”, Popović said and announced the continuation of the construction of new housing units.
He said that 16 apartments were awarded and around a dozen houses built last year, and that 36 apartments would be awarded and another 36 constructed in Gračanica next year.
Popović invited citizens to solidarity and tolerance in order to solve problems according to priorities and opportunities of the Municipality of Gračanica.
