The security situation in Gračanica municipality is calm, it was estimated at the extraordinary session of the Security Committee.
In order to continuously monitor the security challenges that could have a negative impact on life, the second extraordinary session of the Security Committee was held in Gračanica, attended by representatives of the local self-government, local security councils, police, church, NGOs, educational, health and cultural institution.
The session was chaired by Srđan Popović, Mayor of Gračanica municipality, and the current security situation was considered satisfactory. On this occasion, it is being called on to fully cooperation and help of all institutions especially those in charge of security.
“For now, the situation is calm, but nervousness hang in the air”, Popović said.
Popović said that citizens should take greater responsibility for their own security and the state of overall security in the local self-government. He once again appealed to them to report any suspicious activities that threatened to endanger the security situation to the police.
At the session, the report was delivered by the Commander of the Police Station in Gračanica, Bratislav Trajković. The security situation report was presented in primary and secondary schools, as well as in local committees.
Representative of the Cultural Center “Gračanica” Ivan Stojković pointed out that the police should raise the level of security this month, primarily the number of police officers in the field, due to the large number of cultural events within the Vidovdan ceremonies, where a large number of people was expected.
At the committee, it was agreed in principle to hold sessions on a regular basis with reports made in previous and proposed plans for the coming period.
