The Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović, strongly
condemned the demolition of over twenty gravestones at the
Orthodox cemetery in Lipljan and asked from the competent
authorities to conduct a detailed investigation and find the
responsible persons.
"Such incidents put us back in the past and do not contribute to
stabilization and overall peace and confidence building. Ethnic,
religious and cultural diversity are high social values that we must
respect. The demolition of tombstones at the Orthodox cemetery
in Lipljan is a vandalism that is unsuitable for modern civilization,
which unfortunately has been repeating for two decades. These
actions are for any condemnation and contrary to our efforts to
build a peaceful and better life for all citizens. I demand an urgent
reaction from the competent police and judicial authorities, finding
the perpetrators and the most severe punishment", said the
Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović.
The Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović, will visit the
Orthodox cemetery in Lipljan tomorrow, after which he will talk
