Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović opened today a
cultural and entertaining event, "The Hands of gold of the Kosovo
Maiden", organized by the Association of Business Women
“Avenija” from Laplje Selo on the occasion of the festivity of Saint
Petka of Trnovo.
The event "The Hands of gold of the Kosovo Maiden", which aims
to promote folk handicrafts and local cuisine in order to preserve
the tradition, was opened in a children's park in Laplje Selo.
Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović said opening the
event that today's event was also the result of successful
cooperation with the Association of Business Women “Avenija”.
At the beginning, Popović wished the people of Laplje Selo happy
holiday, who celebrated St. Petka of Trnovo as a village saint’s
day, and noted that the Municipality of Gračanica would continue
to cherish true values in order to preserve the tradition.
“Thank you for representing our municipality in a real way. I had
the opportunity to participate with you in several shows where, in
a dignified way, you presented all that our municipality can and
what you in the association know. As a Mayor of Gračanica
municipality, it will always be a priority for me to nurture tradition
and I will always help such activities as I believe it is important for
our municipality. Your effort and work must be seen”, Popović
said, ceremoniously opening, as he said, one of the major events
in Gračanica municipality.
President of the Association of Business Women “Avenija”,
Gordana Đorić thanked the Municipality of Gračanica and Mayor
Srđan Popović for their support in organizing this seventh event in
a row.
She said that many associations from Vojvodina, Kuršumlija,
Raška, Vrnjačka Banja, Kupinovo, Skopje, Kusce, Ranilug, Novo
Brdo, as well as the Knights' Association “Order of the Dragon”
from Gračanica, took part in the manifestation "Hands of gold of
the Kosovo Maiden" in Laplje Selo today.
"We hope for a large number of visitors tonight and I hope that
year after year the event will get better and better. Thank you to
everyone who helped us and I invite everyone to visit us next year
in much greater numbers”, said Gordana Đorić.
Traditionally, on August 8 th – St Paraskeva of the Balkans Day, the
village saint’s day, apart from exhibiting folk handicrafts and local
cuisine, the Association of Women “Avenija”, also organizes a rich
cultural and artistic program.
Besides cultural and artistic societies, a concert by the entertainer
Dragica Radosavljević Cakana will be held within this evening’s
program.
