Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović and Head of the
Serb List, Goran Rakić laid the foundation stone for the
construction of a 36-unit residential building for socially vulnerable
families in Gračanica today. The building is expected to be
completed by the end of the year.
Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović emphasized that
one of the goals of the local self-government was solving housing
issue for families.
"I am proud that we have laid the foundation for 36 apartments
today and that we will take care of, but also solve the life issue for
as many families. So far, we have awarded 52 apartments, built
more than thirty houses and we will not stop there. We will
continue to urbanize our municipality, and our goal is for all
families who do not have a roof over their heads to get it, because
it is important for our families to be established, to stay and
survive here”, Popović said.
Mayor of North Kosovska Mitrovica and the Head of the Serb List,
Goran Rakić, emphasized that the beginning of construction of a
new building was the beginning of construction of a new part of
Gračanica.
"Mayor Popović recognized the real needs of the residents of this
municipality and I hope that with the construction of this
residential unit, many young people will get roof over their heads,
which means that they will have the opportunity to create and
expand their families", Rakić said.
The project is part of the Social Housing Map for which citizens of
Gračanica municipality were able to apply earlier this year. The
new competition will be opened early next year.
"One building will be built, and because Gračanica is a specially
protected zone, it did not go up in height, so the project has three
floors, a ground plus two floors. The building will have three
entrances and the structure of the studio apartments, one- and
two-bedroom apartments", said the Urbanism Director, Dejan
Jovanović.
According to Jovanović, the construction of the building is
expected by the end of the year and will be fully functional by next
spring.
"The project is part of the Social Housing Map. Citizens were able
to apply for the project earlier this year and their applications are
valid for three years, and those who did not apply will be able to
do so in the competition early next year", added Jovanović.
A 36-unit building is being built jointly by the Municipality of
Gračanica and the Ministry of the Local Government
Administration, in the amount of € 489,535. The Ministry has
allocated EUR 280,000 and the rest was provided by the
Municipality of Gračanica.
Deputy Chief of the Serb List, Igor Simić, President of the Interim
Body of the City Assembly of Priština, Ljubinko Karadžić, Head of
School Administration Jasmina Dedić and directors of municipal
departments were also present.
