The Municipality of Gračanica pleased about 80 first-graders from
several places in central Kosovo with the school supplies today.
Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović, accompanied by
the Education Director, Brankica Nićić, handed over the basic
school supplies today to the first-graders in Plemetina, Prilužje,
Babin Most, Grace and Crkvena Vodica.
On that occasion, Popović congratulated the first-graders on
starting school and wished them good success.
"As promised, we have provided the first-graders in central
Kosovo with school supplies, which is a small sign of attention,
assistance and support to our starters in school. I am very
pleased with this action and delighted that there are many
children who were genuinely happy with the gifts. We wished
them good success and to be good pupils. We need to work to
improve conditions in all schools and will continue to invest in
education”, Popović said.
Popović also visited the nursery school in Prilužje, attended by
about sixty children.
"We will do our best to provide a dozen beds and a playground for
them by the end of the month. It is a great pleasure for us to do all
this for our youngest, who are our future”, said Popović.
The school leaders thanked for the visit and today's gifts to the
first-graders too. Srđan Zdravković, the Director of the Elementary
School "Vuk Karadžić" in Prilužje, handed over a certificate of
appreciation to Mayor Popović for the development of education.
Teacher Ivana Popović says this kind of support and help is
welcome.
"To a certain extent, parents and children have prepared for the
start of the school year, but support and assistance in the form of
school supplies that will benefit them throughout the year is
welcome. First of all, this is a nice gesture that gladden the first-
graders, because they do not receive such gifts often”, Popović
said.
School supplies for the first-graders on and off the territory of the
local self-government were provided by the funds of the
Municipality of Gračanica this year as well. About 350 packages
of school supplies have been distributed.
