A public debate on the Draft Budget for 2020 for the residents of
Laplje Selo, Preoce and Čaglavica was held at the Elementary
School “Miladin Mitić” in Laplje Selo.
According to the draft, the budget of the Municipality of Gračanica
for the next year will amount to € 8,101,328, while € 2,545,217 or
31.42% of the total budget has been allocated for capital projects.
The public debate was attended by representatives of the
Municipality of Gračanica and about thirty citizens.
"This public debate was organized with the aim of hearing out all
the proposals and suggestions of those present on the Draft
Budget for the coming year, because constant communication
with citizens is needed in order to make better decisions", said the
Chairman of the Municipal Assembly of Gračanica, Ljubiša
Karadžić.
The unique request of the villagers of these three villages was
solving the pollution of the Gračanka River and the unbearable
stench flowing through Laplje Selo and Preoce. The villagers
demanded every possible means to be used to, as they said,
solve this burning problem.
Representatives of the Municipality of Gračanica emphasized that
the Municipality of Gračanica was doing everything in its power to
solve the problem and that criminal charges have been initiated
against John Doe for environmental threats. It was pointed out
that the pollution was found to come from Ajvalija, and that joint
efforts of all parties in solving the problems – The Municipality of
Gračanica, the Municipality of Priština, the Ministry of
Environment and citizens – were needed.
Other requests included the construction of new and rehabilitation
of existing infrastructure – asphalting of local streets, rehabilitation
and installation of public lighting, reconstruction and construction
of sewage, and the inhabitants of Čaglavica also requested the
installation of steam heating in the local school and nursery
school.
Before Laplje Selo, a public debate was also held at the Roma
Education Center in Gračanica for representatives of the Roma
community. Their requests were also related to the construction
and rehabilitation of infrastructure.
