The president of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga and the US Ambassador to Kosovo were welcomed in the building of the Municipality of Gracanica by the Mayor of the municipality Branimir Stojanovic. After the meeting, Jahjaga and Jacobson, accompanied by the Mayor of the Municipality, visited the Diagnostic Center in Gracanica and then the Monastery of Gracanica. The visit continued with a visitation of the Sports Complex as well as the Hospital which construction is in progress.
Speaking to reporters, the president of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga said that the visit to Gracanica was continuance, as she said, of “the institutional effort in order of enabling the projects and various initiatives at a municipality level which are in the interest of a better life for the citizens of Gracanica.”
Jahjaga said: “The municipality of Gracanica is an excellent example of the successful integration of all communities both on institutional and social level and also a good example of cooperation with all people living in the territory of Gracanica. We had a chance to talk with the mayor about all the problems and difficulties that they have but also about the successes achieved within this municipality. We have also talked about concrete projects among which is the health center.”
She emphasized that Kosovo was directed towards Euro-Atlantic integration processes so that the aim of Kosovo institutions was the Serbian community in the whole territory of Kosovo felt free.
Talking about the participation of “Srpska” list in the future Government of Kosovo, Jahjaga said “the presentation of communities in institutions has been guaranteed by the Constitution of Kosovo by all political subjects who have been registered as such in the Central Election Commission.”
The mayor of Gracanica Municipality Branimir Stojanovic said that with the president of Kosovo had a good and constructive conversation and that they talked about technical and political issues that nowadays plague the Serbs in Kosovo, such as, inter alia, a number of anniversaries marked by the Serbs, one of which is tomorrow, and that is “the anniversary of the horrible crime in Gorazdevac.”
The mayor of Gracanica Municipality said: “A big job is ahead of us. I think the Brussels Agreement is something very important. Conversation is something that is more than welcomed. The Serbs in Kosovo will try to be a bridge, not the bridge that will separate anyone but the one that will connect. There are many other serious problems such as the method by which the court for war crimes that should be established will function to the attitude towards the crimes that had happened in Gorazdevac, Staro Gracko and in bus in Podujevo. This is something that is very important and without it there will be no sincere pacification and a better common future.”
Stojanovic commended the courage Mrs. Jahjaga had shown in the previous period especially in relation “with the radical things and movements that have existed and still exist.”
