Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović, laid the
foundation stone for the construction of a home for the family of
Nemanja Stević from Sušica, who died recently in a car accident.
This is the foundation stone for the fifth of the total of six houses
that the Municipality of Gračanica will build by the end of the year.
Besides Mayor Popović, the foundation stone for the construction
of a home to a single mother Katarina, who will raise three young
children in it, was also laid by the Deputy Director of the Office for
Kosovo and Metohija, Damjan Jović, President of the Interim
Body of the City Assembly of Priština, Ljubinko Karadžić and
Branimir Stojanović, the State Secretary at the Ministry of
Economy of the Government of Serbia.
Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović, said after laying
the foundation stone that housing care remained one of the
leading priorities in the work of Gračanica municipality.
"One of the priorities is founding our families in this area and we
will not stop until every family in need gets a roof over their heads.
We have recently laid the foundation stone for the construction of
36 apartments, so far we have awarded about 52 apartments and
constructed more than 30 houses", Popović said.
Deputy Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Damjan
Jović thanked the Municipality of Gračanica, which, as he said,
shown daily care, attention and responsibility for families.
“This is just one of a series of houses that both the municipality
and the Republic of Serbia and we all together will build. Our
colleagues from the northernmost Serbian city, Subotica, are here
with us today, which only testifies to what we once lacked and
what we have more and more today, which are unity and
harmony. Fortunately, we also have more and more opportunities
to help families and schools and nursery schools and all that is
necessary for our people to live better here every day. Thanks
also to Srđan Popović and the Municipality of Gračanica for taking
care of our people here”, said Jović.
According to an earlier competition, the municipal commission
decided the municipality should build six new housing units for
families of social category, young married couples and displaced
persons. Six of them have been selected to get roof over their
heads by the year's end.
Nemanja Stević from Sušica has recently died in a car accident.
He left behind his wife Katarina and three minor children.
