The second inter-municipal honey fair, organized by the
“Nukleus” Association, was held today in Gračanica. More
than 30 exhibitors from different parts of Kosovo presented
their products. The Honey Fair was also visited by
representatives of institutions including the Mayor of
Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović.
The Honey Fair was organized for the second time with the
support of the Municipality of Gračanica, City Assembly of Priština
and the Office for Kosovo and Metohija. In addition to beekeepers
from the territory of Gračanica municipality, beekeepers from
Štrpce, Novo Brdo, Grnčar, Zubin Potok, Leposavić, Crkvena
Vodica and other places from Kosovo also exhibit bee products.
In addition to honey, there were other, as the producers say,
medicinal products at the booths – propolis drops, various balms,
honey brandy and beeswax.
The Honey Fair was opened by Dušan Kozarev, Deputy Director
of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, which, along with the
Municipality of Gračanica and the CA of Priština, helped
organization of the event. He said that good organization was the
essence of every success, which was confirmed by this fair.
"Every year, our friends here teach me some of the secrets of the
craft and that the market is crying out for products like this. We
have agreed to carry on with the continuity because the event is
constantly growing and it is growing because we have more
producers and exhibitors and that is pride. Expect our help in
every sense as well. I am glad that in Gračanica, which is
extremely important to us in central Kosovo, we have many good
reasons to come except this Fair”, Kozarev said at the opening of
the second Honey Fair in Gračanica and wished all the residents
of Gračanica a happy holiday of the Dormition of the Mother of
God.
In company of Kozarev, the fair was also visited by the Mayor of
Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović, who wished all the
producers a lot of success in their future work.
"The Municipality of Gračanica is open to all ideas that contribute
to the survival and stay of our citizens. We are here to support
both this and all similar activities and I am proud of the fact that
this manifestation is becoming more serious and the number of
honey producers is constantly increasing”, Popović said.
The Honey Fair in Gračanica was visited as well by the President
of the Interim Body of the CA of Priština, Ljubinko Karadžić.
The president of this association, Mladen Đokić, who claims that
the quality of honey is extremely good and that only today it will
be sold at a lower price of 10 euros per kilogram, is pleased with
the response from both the honey producer and the visitors.
"The season started off very badly due to bad weather conditions
which luckily improved, so this pasture started in July and I can
say that we are now satisfied and we have about 15 kg per hive.
Here, you can find mostly meadow honey and we will do our best
to plant about 3000 honey plants by the end of the year. We have
some guarantees that we will get Hungarian pine tree, linden and
chestnut trees. I am proud of the fact that last year we had 15 and
now we have about 40 beekeepers and we are proud of that
number, but we all need to work together to improve bee
pasture", said Đokić.
