Last night was festive in the center of Gracanica. In the presence of numerous guests and citizens, there was opened a new square. In the works on its arrangement, the area in front of police station and building of Gracanica Municipality was fully reconstructed and paved, seedlings were planted, several parking lots were created, lighting was set up, and in a few days there will be placed jardinieres with flowers and benches. Square construction in the amount of 28,000 euros was financed by the Gracanica Municipality and the Ministry of Administration and Local Self-Government.
Many citizens of Gracanica didn’t hide their contentment about the appearance of the square, which will, as they say, certainly further beautify this place. Mayor of Gracanica Branimir Stojanovic said at the opening that he has a great honor to render the citizens to use something that is almost obligatory if we want to have a city.
Stojanovic said: "At the next session of the Municipal Assembly this area will be proclaimed as the Square of Liberators of Gracanica, because there is a monument. A hundred years ago they dreamed a dream of freedom and new life. We have been dreaming for fourteen years our dream that once again we will have the city. Let this evening be a small step towards the realization of our dream."
The ceremony was magnified by the famous actor Milan Lane Gutovic with the monodrama "Regular evening." The play in which with specific humor he talks about life fortunes and misfortunes thrilled the audience and forced many of them to laugh to tears.
By presenting the show, Gutovic became the first friend of Gracanica, who, as he said, will work on promotion of our Municipality and domestic tourism.
