The Municipality of Gračanica was visited by the President of the
Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired of Serbia, Milan Stošić,
today. He and his associates were received by the Mayor of
Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović.
Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović received a
delegation of the Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired of
Serbia today to discuss its activities and cooperation with the
Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired in Gračanica.
The President of the Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired,
who is also the president of the Disability Movement of Serbia,
Milan Stošić, thanked Mayor Popović for the support he provided
to the Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired in Gračanica.
"I am honored to have been able to meet the mayor and I am
grateful to him for allowing us to do so. He supports our
organization, which operates here, understands their needs and
helps them with specific events. That is why we came to visit our
organization to encourage people in this area and to thank the
Mayor for his support, with the promise that within the limits of our
capabilities, the Union of the Blind of Serbia, but also the mayor
will do even more in order to make the position of the blind and
visually impaired even better and more quality, more meaningful
and we got assurances for that. We hope thenext year, when the
Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired in Gračanica
celebrates 75 years, they will welcome the jubilee with better
results", Stošić said.
Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović said after the
meeting that the Municipality of Gračanica understood the needs
and problems of the Association of the Blind and Visually
Impaired and it sought to help them with constant support.
"We have very good cooperation with the Association of the Blind
and Visually Impaired in Gračanica and we have regular meetings
and we help them as much as we can. Today, we have
strengthened this cooperation. We talked with Mr. Stošić about
our cooperation so far and how to improve that cooperation. I
listened to all the ideas and we agreed to draw up an annual plan
and see how the municipality could deepen that cooperation",
Popović said.
The Municipality of Gračanica has recently allocated premises for
use to the Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired in
Gračanica, while the Union of the Blind of Serbia participated in
furnishing those premises, and one of the larger activities
supported by the municipality was the chess tournament
organized on Vidovdan.
