The Municipality of Gračanica provided school supplies for the first-graders in central Kosovo

Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović, and his
associates handed over school supplies to the first-graders
in central Kosovo today. Over 300 packages of supplies were
delivered.
This year, as well as in the previous one, the Municipality of
Gračanica donated school supplies to all pupils from the territory
of the local self-government and central Kosovo who enrolled in
the first grade this year. Over 300 packages of primary school
supplies, provided by the Department of Education, were
delivered.
Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović, along with the
Education Director, Brankica Nićić, distributed the supplies to the
first-graders at the Elementary School “Knez Lazar” in Donja
Gušterica first; there are 54 of them this year.
"This is the most beautiful day in our municipality, the day we get
a new generation. This year we have over 300 first-graders in
central Kosovo and the Municipality of Gračanica provided school
supplies for all of them. Nobody can replace these smiles, these
little ones are our future, something that we have to look after and
cherish, in order to become good people and be proud of",
Popović said, congratulating them on starting school.
Education Director, Brankica Nićić said that every first-grader in
central Kosovo would receive school supplies.
"The school supplies will be given to children in Plemetina,
Prilužje, Brnjica, Staro Gracko … Even though these children are

outside the territory of Gračanica municipality, they certainly
deserve to receive and be gladden with such an appropriate gift",
said Nićić.
On behalf of the pupils and parents, the principal of the
Elementary School “Knez Lazar”, Dragan Maksimović, thanked
for the gifts given to the first-graders at the school by the
representatives of the Municipality of Gračanica.
“This is an indicator that the municipality is thinking of its youngest
and is making every effort to provide the best possible conditions
for the education process. There are 470 pupils in our school, and
this year we have enrolled 54 first-graders, which is at last year's
level", said Maksimović.
Afterwards, Mayor Popović and Director Nićić, accompanied by
the President of the Interim Body of the City Assembly of Priština
in Gračanica, Ljubinko Karadžić, distributed school supplies to the
first-graders in Laplje Selo, where 54 of them were enrolled, and
Gračanica, where 85 first-graders were enrolled.
Popović: We continue to invest in education
Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović, emphasized that
the local self-government would continue investing in education,
i.e. creating better conditions for education.
After delivering the school supplies to the first-graders at the
Elementary School “Kralj Milutin” in Gračanica, Popović visited
the school building that was completely renovated this year with
funds from the municipal budget.
“One of our priorities is to create the best possible conditions for
our children's education. Last year, we completely reconstructed
the school “Knez Lazar” in Donja Gušterica. This year, we are
doing this with the school “Kralj Milutin”, in which the entire interior

of the building has been reconstructed, new blackboards have
been placed, and floors, doors and complete inventory have been
replaced. In addition, intensive work on the capacity expansion is
underway, new rooms and classrooms are being built, and the
school will receive more pupils, which makes us happy
particularly”, Popović said.
Popović added that the reconstruction of the school atrium is also
planned.
