In the grand hall of the Cultural Center, the Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović awarded contracts for 33 apartments in residential buildings in Laplje Selo and Donja Gušterica today.
Based on a lawful and thoroughly implemented procedure, the Municipal Commission selected families from the category of socially vulnerable and young married couples who will receive a roof over their head in six residential buildings in Laplje Selo and three in Donja Gušterica.
Popović said the progress in all fields was possible only with mutual understanding and patience. The Mayor of Gračanica municipality said that since last year, solving the housing issue for socially vulnerable families and young married couples was one of the priorities in the work of the municipality, and the plan for the next year on homing about a hundred families had already been made.
“Today is a very happy day for us. It’s a good feeling when you make this number of families happy. We took care that these are the families that were determined to stay here in our municipality. We will not stop at this. We have already made new plans when it comes to assisting the housing care of our citizens. We are continuing to implement these plans so that we can take care of housing for as many families that have not resolved the housing issue as possible, and in just over a month, we are planning to start building another 36 apartments”, announced Srđan Popović.
By the year 2016, Maksimović family lived in Topola. That year they returned to Kosovo.
“This is a great joy for us to finally get a roof over our head after 20 years, because, like to any family man, this is one of the most important things in life. On behalf of my family and me, I would like to thank the Municipality of Gračanica and Mayor Srđan Popović”, said Dejan Maksimović.
Milica Đukić, a single mother of two children, was awarded the apartment after the appeal process.
“This is a great security for us. No more moving from one apartment to another. We lived from today until tomorrow. Now this is a great start for us, and a lot of thanks to the municipality and the mayor, who said that the municipality will help me as much as possible in a conversation with me during regular reception of citizens. He fulfilled it”, said Milica, whose children have health problems, her daughter is an asthmatic, and her son had a tumor that was luckily cured.
Nenad Lazić and his family have been living as subtenants in Ugljare for 19 years.
“We are overjoyed and grateful to everyone who recognized that we are one of those families who need an apartment. We remain to live here, to work and create”, Lazić said.
According to the announcements, the families, who signed the agreement on the allocation of apartments today, should move into their apartments by the end of the year.
