The board members of the parliamentary group Alliance of Kosovo Serbs – Vidovdan requested at today’s meeting from the Assembly of the Municipality of Gracanica 70 thousand euros for the purchase of modern computers and mobile phones, as well as for travelling to the European Union in 2015. "I do not give a cent more than it’s predicted for parliamentary affairs," said Branimir Stojanovic, the Mayor of Gracanica Municipality.
The proposal submitted to the Assembly of the Municipality of Gracanica by Goran Lazic, who is also vice-president of Progressive Democratic Party and who acts as head of the parliamentary group Alliance of Kosovo Serbs-Vidovdan in the Assembly of the Municipality of Gracanica, requires, among other things, the allocation of money from next year’s budget for the purchase of IT equipment and lap tops brand Toshiba that are more than need, as he said, for "the improvement of communication by electronic means."
It also requires the allocation of funds for the purchase of mobile phone brand iPhone 5 as well as for a study visit to one of the municipalities of the European Union in order to "exchange experiences".
"What remains will be returned to the municipality," said Lazic in the explanation of the proposal, in which it was subsequently asked by the same parliamentary group the decreasing of the amount from 70 to 40 thousand.
Mayor of Gracanica Branimir Stojanovic said at the meeting in Gracanica he did not understand this attitude of individuals towards municipal money.
"You are the representatives of the people, and I assume you see how these people live. The numbers you are playing with are foolish and the amount you mentioned is sufficient for complete marking and placing of the monument on the occasion of 140 years of King Milutin elementary school in Gracanica. With that money you’re asking for, we can help many of our people to spend the winter. For which activities of the Assembly you are asking money for?, the Mayor asked committeemen and said he would not give a cent over the amount predicted by the budgeted and it was about five thousand.
"It’s time for you to behave responsibly and realize how poorly the people live," said at the end the Mayor of Gracanica Municipality.
Goran Lazic’s proposal was rejected at the session of the Assembly of the Municipality of Gracanica since 13 MPs voted against and five for the proposal.
Branimir Stojanovic: It’s time for them to forget the habits from the past
After today’s session, Mayor of Gracanica Branimir Stojanovic said for the info service of Gracanica Municipality, that he was dumbfound and offended by the proposal presented by the opposition today at the session of the Assembly of the Municipality of Gracanica, and that this is a clear indicator that individuals continue to be guided solely by personal interests.
Stojanovic said: "The logic that guides the opposition in the Assembly of the Municipality of Gracanica is unknown to anyone who at least partially understands the problems of ordinary people on the territory of our municipality. They have been chosen by the people and they are now asking from me to deprive from the same people in order to buy lap tops, the latest phones and to fund their travels around the world. I repeat I don’t give a cent! It is time for them to start to forget the practice from the past they have been accustomed to, because while I’m president it will not go."
The committeemen of the Alliance of Kosovo Serbs and Vidovdan are asking for 70 thousand euros. I do not give a cent, said Branimir Stojanovic.
