The 20th anniversary of the Vidovdan Chess Tournament will be held in Gračanica, organized by the Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted Persons.
The tournament was opened by the Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović taking first move. On this occasion, he pointed out that the local self-government had excellent cooperation with the Association.
“The organization of these and similar activities has a special significance for us. For years, we have been having good cooperation with and helping the Association as much as we can. This year we have provided them with new rooms in which the tournament is being held. We are trying to improve the conditions for the work of all similar organizations and insist on improving our cooperation”, said Popović, who wished a special welcome to guests from central Serbia.

President of the Association of Blind and Partially Sighted Persons, Božidar Stojanović thanked Mayor Popović for the visit and pointed out that the 20th anniversary of the Vidovdan Chess Tournament was taking place today.
“We have a successful cooperation with the local self-government. We are particularly pleased that besides our members, guests from Niš, Leskovac, Kuršumlija and Gnjilane are also here. We will try to expand this tournament to get international character, as well as to include it in the calendar of sports activities”
