The awards “Longin” and “Dimitrije Popović” of the Vidovdan Art Colony in 2019 were ceremoniously handed over at the Cultural Center in Gračanica. The ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović.
The jury for awarding art awards “Longin” and “Dimitrije Popović” for 2019, who worked in the composition: Prof. Mr. Petar Đuza, academic painter Maja Todić and art historian Nebojša Jevtić, decided to award Longin’s lifetime prize to prominent Serbian painter and sculptor Miloš Šobajić from Belgrade.
In the explanation of the jury, it is stated that the prize is awarded to Šobajić for exceptional painting opus in which “the motives of conflict, violence, expulsion and victim as an archetype of civilization that is pervading through the whole history and man’s need to free himself from that powerful pressure and break into the world so crucified, bare and rawed.”
The award “Dimitrije Popović” for a young artist was handed over to the painter Lazar Šošević from Uroševac by the Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović.
The mother of a tragically killed young man, Dimitrije Popović, Jorgovanka, handed the medals and t-shirts to the artists.
Director of the National Theater of Priština, Predrad Radonjić opened an exhibition of works created at the Vidovdan Art Colony in 2019.
One of the sponsors of the Vidovdan ceremonies is the Municipality of Gračanica.
