Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović met today with US Ambassador to Kosovo, Philip Kosnett in Gračanica, with whom he discussed local and political topics.
Mayor Popović familiarized Ambassador Kosnett with the current situation in Gračanica municipality. They mostly talked about municipal development plans, primarily on the urbanization of Gračanica, the possibilities of economic development and the security situation.
Popović told Ambassador Kosnett that the goal of the current municipal government was to transform Gračanica into a place that was good and beautiful for life, an urbanized administrative center with all the necessary amenities for life in the 21st century. As he pointed out, the Municipality of Gračanica was in constant communication with the citizens trying to solve their social and other problems in that manner.
Speaking about economic development, Mayor Popović told the US Ambassador that the Municipality of Gračanica had been committed to improving the economic environment, attracting and creating conditions for investors, primarily through the regulation of infrastructure.
Mayor Popović and Ambassador Kosnett also discussed the current security situation. Popović said the current situation was peaceful, but that the locals were worried about, lately, frequent thefts and the undiscovering of perpetrators.
After the talks, the US Ambassador to Kosovo, Philip Kosnett, said the meeting was constructive.
This is the second visit of the US Ambassador to Gračanica. At the end of March he met and talked with Serbian representatives.
