The Municipality of Gračanica informs farmers in the territory of the local self-government that it has begun examining agricultural soil.
As announced by the Department of Agriculture, the examination is conducted in cooperation with NGO “ESG” and Agrovet Laboratory.
In the first group, the soil from ten locations in the territory of Gračanica municipality was sampled for the same number of analyzes – that is, from the properties of the first registered farmers.
The Municipality of Gračanica informs farmers that further analysis will be carried out on the basis of applications from interested parties in the Department of Agriculture.
Laboratory tests will be conducted at the Kosovo Laboratory Agrovet.
Sampling and testing of agricultural soil was previously agreed at a meeting of the management of the Municipality of Gračanica and farmers.
Agrochemical soil analysis is a basic precondition for successful agricultural production in vegetable farming, husbandry and fruit growing.
With every year’s yield, plants bring out from the soil a specific type and amount of nutrients that need to be returned to the soil through fertilization.
Excessive or insufficient intake of fertilizers into the soil results in an increase in pH and EC of the soil, blocking the adoption of certain macro and microelements by plants, which affects the increase in production costs and yield reductions.
Therefore, it is necessary to determine the potential and effective fertility of soil in soil samples taken from production parcels.
