Nevena Kujundžić from Leposavić was elected the most beautiful Kosovo Maiden in 2019. The Mayor of Gračanica municipality Srđan Popović handed over appropriate prizes to the winner.
Within the “Vidovdan ceremonies”, the final election of “Kosovo Maiden” for 2019 was held in the crowded churchyard of the Gračanica Monastery.
The six-member jury decided to award the title of the most beautiful Kosovo Maiden to Nevena Kujundžić from Leposavić. Sunčica Stojanović from Gračanica was elected the first runner-up, while the second runner-up was Jelena Nikolić from Veliko Ropotovo.
“I did not expect this title and for me this is a new experience. I am honored to be in Gračanica tonight and participate”, Nevena said.
The final election was attended by the Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović, who congratulated this year’s winner first, and then handed over a cash prize, a deed of gift and flowers. The same prize was awarded to the first and the second runner-up.
Tonight’s election of “Kosovo Maiden” was accompanied by a rich cultural and artistic program. Children’s Folklore Dancing School and Youth Ensemble “Venac”, Cultural Artistic Society (CAS) “Simonida”, CAS “Branko Medenica”, CAS “Slavuj”, soloists Miljana Slavić and Tamara Kapetanović, as well as guests from North Macedonia, soloist Jovana Bogdanovska and CAS “Saint Sava” from Tetovo, performed at the event.
Special guests of the evening were the winners of the third season of the show “I Have Talent”, brother and sister, Bojana and Nikola Peković from Kraljevo, with their orchestra.
Within the event and in the organization of the Association of Business Women “Avenija” from Laplje Selo, traditional awards for the best crocheted work were presented to Stanka Popović from Gračanica, for the best woven work to Slavica Kostić from Stanišor and the most beautiful embroidery to Smiljana Jovanović from Stanišor, for which the Municipality of Gračanica provided cash prizes of 200 euros.
We will have the opportunity to see the most beautiful Kosovo Maiden and her runner-ups, tomorrow at 20:00, also in the churchyard of the Gračanica Monastery, where they will hand over prizes to poets within the Vidovdan Poet Vigil.
Tomorrow we enjoy the music of the RTS Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Bojan Suđić.
