Brochures, showing the importance of environmental protection, were distributed by workers of the Department of Inspections to students and teachers in schools in the municipality of Gracanica firstly, and then to the residents.
According to inspector Milos Aritonovic, the aim of the campaign is the prevention of environmental pollution. For this reason, the Department of Inspection has decided to start with pronouncement of mandatory fines to natural and legal persons for the disposal of waste outside the predicted place.
"Through this campaign we want to draw attention that by the proper disposal of waste we protect our health. The campaign is also the message that we are going to sanction every irresponsible behavior and waste disposal in places that are not predicted for that purpose," said Aritonovic.
According to inspector Stefan Popovic, the Municipality of Gracanica is facing a big problem of creation of illegal dumps, which is the result of inadequate maintenance of the environment by the individuals, and the objective of the campaign "Let’s protect our environment" is to alert the population to their harmfulness.
"With the campaign and brochures we want to develop ecological awareness in residents, not to pollute the soil, water and air. Today we have directed the action towards schools, towards the youngest, because we believe that they need to learn, and attention need to be drawn to them about the importance of preserving the environment, because healthy nature means our health," said Popovic.
The municipality of Gracanica, the Department of Inspection, invites the residents to report irresponsible individuals who throw trash out of the site designated for it, on phone 049 / 436-264.
