Signing contracts for the begining of construction of six houses in Gračanica municipality

In the assembly hall of the Municipality of Gračanica, six families
signed contracts for the beginning of construction of houses.
Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović promised
families that they will have roof over their heads by the end of the
year.
According to an earlier competition, the commission decided the
municipality to build six new residential units for families of social
category, young married couples and displaced persons. Six of
them have been selected to have roof over their heads by the end
of the year.
The construction of six houses, which will begin by the end of the
summer, will be fully funded by the Municipality of Gračanica
through the Social Housing Map program, and the commission
has made the decision to select families based on a thorough
analysis of the documentation and fact finding.
Mayor of Gračanica municipality, Srđan Popović congratulated
families on signing the contract and reiterated that one of the
leading priorities of the Municipality of Gračanica was housing
care, which would continue after the construction of these six
houses as well.
"We continue to provide homes to families, to help socially
vulnerable persons and young married couples. The construction
of these six houses is proof that our priority is housing care for our
residents. The Commission did its job very well. In the coming
period and in accordance with our capabilities, we will continue to

assist all families who are looking for apartments and who don’t
have their own homes", Popović said.
Among the winners of the apartments is the eight-member family
Maksimović from Dobrotin.
“We live in very difficult conditions and building a house means a
lot to us. We live off my husband's minimum wage and the dole
but now we at least know we will have a roof over our heads. Kids
will be happier. Thank the Municipality of Gračanica and Mayor
Popović", says mother Snežana.
Brankica Simić from Gračanica says she is very happy about
building the house.
"I'm very excited and I don't know what to say. All I know is we
can't wait to move in. All I know is that the kids will get warmer",
Brankica says.
The Simić family from Štimlje has been living a subtenant’s life in
Lepina for 20 years. Displaced life is very difficult, says host Milan
Simić.
“Thank the Municipality of Gračanica for helping us. The house
was promised to us two years ago and this promise has been
fulfilled. We have been subtenants for 20 years, but in that house
that is dilapidated and full of moisture, I experienced beautiful
moments and I was happy. We lived to see one daughter with a
degree in medicine and another in chemistry”, Milan said.
Like the other winners, Zlatan Stanojević from Laplje Selo will
move in a new house by the end of the year.
"We lived in one room in a house that was over 150 years old.
Now the children will have their own room and we hope to expand
our family in a new home. It will be a new beginning for us”, says
Zlatan.

As announced, the construction of new residential buildings will
soon begin in Gračanica, which is also a big challenge as their
construction will provide housing for 36 more families.
