A meeting between representatives of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, representatives of the provisional institutions of local self-governments and school principals from all Serbian environments in central Kosovo was held yesterday in Gracanica. A closed-door meeting at the headquarters of the Kosovo administrative district in Gracanica was attended by the Mayor of the Municipality of Gracanica Branimir Stojanovic.
As relayed Radio Gracanica, they discussed the necessary measures to be taken in order of better functioning of the educational institutions in this area.
"This meeting is an initiative for everyone seriously to take their role and that invested funds are wisely and appropriately used, that those who get these funds, use it in the best possible way. The municipality is here to help everyone, but we invite others to do their work responsibly in order to advance our education. There is a real chance for that, and I believe that we will succeed in doing so," said Stojanovic.
When it comes to one of the most acute problems – the transportation of students, Stojanovic expressed concern that the situation is sliding towards a political problem.
"Those who had the obligation to deliver documentation, which affirms that there is really nothing problematic, they have done their job. The case is now at customs. We expect response from them, and quickly to solve this problem. If this does not happen there is no more a reasonable explanation, and this becomes a political problem," said Stojanovic.
"I hope that those who would care about this will react quickly in order to make the traffic finally start functioning in the way it has worked the last 15 years," said Branimir Stojanovic, the Mayor of the Municipality of Gracanica.
Predrag Stojcetovic, Chief of the Ministry Department of Education, said that the intention of the meeting was the improvement of Serbian education system in Kosovo.
Mayor of the Municipality of Gracanica, Branimir Stojanovic said that the local self-government will continue to invest significant resources in technical appearance of schools and functionality of educational institutions.
